Valentine's Day was a busy day of fun games and activities. I did hear some kids say that it was the best day of their life lol. So here are some fun things that we did today.
Minute to Win It stacking hearts challenge! 4 kids competed at a time and after one minute whoever has the tallest tower got a prize.
Lava Heart Race - 2 kids competed at a time to race to the finish line by only stepping on their hearts and not falling into the lava!
Heart Spoon Relay - There was 5 teams of 4 and they had to take turns collecting hearts onto their spoon without using their fingers, and then race to their cup to get as many hearts in their as possible. They got super crazy competitive with this game! After everyone had a turn, we counted each cup to find the winning team! The highest a team scored was 15 hearts! Not as easy as it looks!
I made some decomposing heart puzzles for a team challenge during centers today. I was impressed with their ability to finish the puzzles so quickly. We practicing decomposing with cubes daily so I guess it's helping! They had heart puzzles for numbers 1-20.
I gave each student a box of conversation hearts and they had to sort them by color and then count them. I had one rule....you can't eat your hearts until I check your answers! Haha they were so anxious to eat those!
I'm pretty sure I already blogged about the following activities, but since they are valentine related I thought I'd stick them in here! Here is our valentine suncatchers - wax paper, heart cutouts, and tissue paper.
Our valentine's to a loved one. They tore paper into pieces for one side of the valentine and then attached their letter on the back. So sweet.
Sorting pictures into vowel mailboxes by the middle sound. They loved this. I had 5 mailboxes labeled with a, e, i, o, u and a bunch of little envelopes with pictures on them. It was fun watching them mail each letter into the correct box. Great team work.
