We started the day weaving 100s. This was quite challenging for many of the kiddos, but I overheard heard some of them saying, "this is actually really fun".
Next we had our morning centers. We usually do 3 center rotations a day, but we did 5 today! It went surprisingly really smooth.
The kids painted 100 gum balls with q-tips.
Wrote about what they would buy with $100.
Used 100 blocks to build towers.
We also made 100 day crowns. On the headband (sentence strip) they wrote to 100 by 10s. Then at my table they had to count to 100. If they could count to 100 they made it into the 100 Club! Everyone received a 100 day sticker and a fake $100 bill for trying their best.
After lunch, we had our 100 seconds word writing challenge. I set the timer for 100 seconds and they needed to write as many words as possible, many of them chose to write their names. I gave a treat to the winner and the runners up. First place had 22 words!
Next, we did the activity that they had been waiting for all day long, The sorting 100 treats activity! Wonderful parents donated 10 different snacks for us to sort on our sorting mats. My one rule was you can't eat any of it until we all have 100. I was impressed with their self control lol although I did witness a few sneak a cheese ball!
When we finished, I encouraged them to save some in their ziploc baggy to eat the rest later instead of gorging themselves! Although, we did get some pretty delicious things!
Next, we took our festivities outside with what was probably my best purchase ever in life....my giant parachute! We practiced various techniques for how to use the parachute, played a few games, and then played 100 ball popcorn! Haha basically we had to try to keep all the balls on the parachute without flying off....impossible, but loads of fun.
Lastly, I blew up 22 balloons last night (and almost passed out lol) but I had the kids each grab one. I set the timer again for 100 seconds. They had to keep the balloon in the air without dropping. Afterwards, it was time to go home so I let them all take a balloon!
We also took pictures of ourselves using the app "aging booth". It was hilarious. Although, not very attractive. Lol
Oh and last week we completed these fun posters with our 8th grade buddies. They turned out so cute, but were too big to hang up in the classroom :(
So today was a Fun day, but I am EXHAUSTED. I still can't believe it's already the 100th day of school. Time goes by way too fast. Only 79 days left.
