Christmas Spirit

I always love my classroom during December. I even had a parent tell me recently that my classroom lifted her holiday spirit. :) First, let me start by sharing my classroom festiveness :)

And here are some fun things that we've done so far this month...

Christmas Tree Lane - we decorated Christmas trees with random craft supplies like yarn, fruit loops, sequins, and glitter.

Since we learned the song, Frosty the Snowman, for our kindergarten Christmas performance, we made some snowmen! I got this template free from TPT!

We made candycane patterns.

We brainstormed a list of 5 different word families and then made rhyming trees.
We did a directed drawing of Santa. They love directed drawings and so do I!
Only 3 more days left until winter break! This week we will be doing a handful of fun Christmas activities. I have "Grinch Day" planned and "Polar Express Pajama Day" we will also be doing some fun snow globe stuff!

Today we celebrated the Grinch! My whole class wore green and we read the book, watched the movie, wrote about how to make the grinch grin, and did a directed drawing of the mean green one. Fun day!

We also finished our Polar Express retell trains. Each day we read a little more of the book and then discussed what happened and what to write. On the last day, they glued them all together.

We also started a project to hang up for January. The kids did tear art to make a Christmas tree and then finger painted their snowman. And then marble painted the snow. After they are dry, we are going to draw snowman details and a sentence to go with it.
