Fun in K on St. Patrick's Day!

Fun in K on St. Patrick's Day!

The day before St. Patty's Day, the kids set out their leprechaun traps anywhere in the room. They were so excited and their traps were very clever! They all got a turn to share their trap and how it works before placing around the room. Then comes the tired leprechaun lol. I painted footprints on every trap and every table, put skittles in each trap, and "ate" some of their bait. I hated taking their bait, but I needed to make it believable! And I think they totally did, because the next morning they were so excited. I also hid a magical door that included a note from a leprechaun stating a pot of gold "gold painted rocks" were hiding somewhere in the room and if they found it he would share one piece with everyone.

Then we painted our hands like rainbows!! This simple project is so beautiful! The kids looked so cute with little rainbow hands; however, the sink was a giant colorful mess!

And of course we needed to do a holiday directed drawing of a leprechaun. How cute and colorful are these? The kids know that I looooove color and detail.

And just a random extra activity we did this week was create our own transportation scene since our Wonders curriculum theme is all about transportation "getting here to there". I printed out some random backgrounds and details and told the kids to use as much or as little as they wanted to create a scene and a sentence including their transportation. At first they all looked at me very confused wanting me to give them some direction or to model an example, but I refused lol. Once they embraced their inner imagination and creativity they took off creating! I loved how creative they got. Some kids didn't even use any of the pieces I printed and every picture was so different and unique.
