Making Addition Fun!

Addition is super fun to teach, because there is a ton of ways to make it fun to teach and learn. I'm super proud of my addition machine wonderfully made with the help of my handy dad! The kids loooove this and it really makes addition an easy concept to grasp.

I also turned my carnival disc drop game into an addition game. Students drop two discs and add the numbers together while the rest of the class writes the equation and answer on their white board.

And of course Bean Bag Toss Addition! Same concept, the kids got to throw two bags while the rest of the class writes the equation and answer on their board. After we practiced this multiple times individually, we then played it in teams. The first team to answer it correctly received a point. A fun, healthy competition :)

Some other fun things to tag along with math this week was making Kindergarten drivers licenses. We learned about how rulers, measuring tape, and weight scales work. They loved making these and thought that they were real! I had to burst their bubble that sadly, they can't drive yet lol.

And this has nothing to do with math lol but our letter this week was Y so the kids glued all kinds of yarn into their y. I think they look so fabulous! Totally helped them remember the correct sound it makes instead of the /w/.
