Now into my classroom, every year I tear down everything and redecorate. It's tiring, but a fun way to make a new clean slate for the upcoming kiddos and myself.
Here is a view of the alphabet line, number line, word wall, and main wall for projects!
White board/Focus wall with the words/letters of the week, essential questions of the week for ELA and Math, team points charts, themed books, and other goodies.
Calendar/Weather wall/100th Chart/Birthdays/Jobs
Celebrity Writer Wall, this is a monthly reward I give out to celebrate fantastic writing. Celebrity Writers receive a trophy, their paper and picture on the wall, and get to always be third in line.
I think this shark is their favorite decoration.
Starfish of the Week aka student of the week will be awarded to a student each week with great behavior. They get to take home this backpack filled with a medal necklace, certificate, "All About Me" poster, Clark's Journal, Clark the Shark stuffed animal, and Clark the Shark book. They need to return everything (except the medal and certificate) the following week so we can read about all of the adventures that they did together in their journal. I'll display their posters on the Starfish door.
I plan on taking pictures of the kids in this cut out on the first day lol
This is my 3rd year teaching at my current school and I realized I've never had my name or grade displayed in my window! Ha so I was excited to make a little ocean sign :)
I have 6 tables of 4 kids.
This wall is where the Student of the Month/Character Counts award winners names and pictures will be displayed. Also includes the kids backpack hooks, and I'm obviously struggling finding a place for all of those curriculum books!
Starfish of the Week door
This will be the writing wall. I plan on displaying the kids pictures on the plate life preservers so that their writing will be easy to see. Usually, I collect their writing for the whole year on the wall on 3 ring folders, but this year I decided to change it up.
The only lobster in the room! A towel with my name on it displayed above the restrooms lol
This usually is my parent news wall. But usually it ends up being my picture wall since I am a picture aholic. I like to take lots of pics and display them throughout the year until it is full. Then I let the kids take them home at graduation.
One of my classroom management systems. This is one is for individual behavior. They have their names on a magnet and start on green fish everyday. They move up or down based on their behavior. If they end up on blue at the end of the day, they get to choose a sticker. If they end up on purple, they get to choose a little prize from my treasure chest.
Another wall to proudly display my kids' projects.
Soooo I'm not supposed to hang things from the ceiling, but I did anyway. So there are fish and crabs dangling everywhere and I love it!
Super close up of the word wall. The first thing that will be on the word wall will be their names! :)
Whew, I think I'm ready for the first day!
When they come in tomorrow, I'll have name tags and ocean pictures on their tables to keep them busy for a few minutes while I walk around and meet everyone. I figured if any parents hang around they can help their child write their name, trace the sentence at the bottom, and/or color the picture before saying their goodbyes.
