We read "Chrysanthemum" and decorated our own special names.

We watched the song "Baby Shark" and acted it out with puppets and headbands. Then we made silly shark headbands.

We read "David Goes to School" and then made a directed drawing of him...lol they turned out so scary! But the kids had fun drawing him.

We read "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and of course watched the movie to sing along. And then we made Chicka name trees. These look fabulous hanging around the room.

We have read MANY of the "Pete the Cat" books and completed many projects for each book, but this project was my favorite. I painted their hands and then had them write a sentence about their shoes.

After reading "Pete and the Magic Sunglasses" we made our own giant sunglasses and wrote "I can see" on the lenses.

We read "Elmer" and then had our first coloring contest. The kids looooooved this competition.

We used tacks to push pin our first sight word.

Our fine motor marble balancing challenge with tweezers.

We sorted beads by color into muffin tins.

We spooned for letters at my alphabet soup center. They used magic wands to mix around in the bowl of beans to find magnetic letters and place them on the letter mats.

And we learned about our 5 senses. Always one of my favorite things to teach. Each day we focused on a different sense and experimented with a specific activity. We also made silly headbands by the end of the week. For the touch, smell, and hearing test we used mystery cups and tins to guess what was inside. For sight, we used magnifying glasses to explore things inside and outside the room and then drew 3 things onto our paper. For taste, we tried chocolate, Parmesan cheese, green olives, salty pretzels, and lemons.
