Dr. Seuss Week

Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss Week aka Read Across America Week?! I turned it into a 2 week event since I have so many activities and books! I have a little poster of all of the Dr. Seuss books and as we read them, we cross them off on the list. Our goal is to read all of them and to get as many guest readers as possible. Here are some Dr. Seussy things we've been up to.

"Oh the Places You'll Go" - We used tear art to decorate a hot air balloon, placed our school picture inside, and then wrote about anywhere we hope that someday we can go to.

"Cat in the Hat" - We made rhyming hats for words that rhyme with at. We also did a directed drawing of the famous cat, as well as a coloring contest to celebrate his birthday.

"Horton Hears a Who" - We made puppets and wrote our own version of the story by completing the sentence "Horton hears a _____." and then drawing what he hears in Horton's giant ear. 

"The Lorax" - We made mustaches and took our pictures as the little mister

"The Sneetches" - We wrote things that we love about ourselves on a green star and taped it onto our classroom sneetch.

"The Foot Book" - We traced our feet and then used objects to measure how long our foot is by using pennies, paperclips, connecting cubes, and crayons. Then we figured out who had the "winning" foot in each team aka the longest foot.
