Then we did some valentine themed centers. We started with writing to our Valentine's. One of the kids wrote his Valentine to me! Melted my heart. He wrote, "Dear Miss Powers. I love you because she is beautiful".
We sorted conversation hearts by graphing them. And then we got to eat them! I bought the individual boxes at the grocery store and they worked perfectly!
We also used heart stamps to create our own addition sentences. They used two different heart stamps and two different colors of ink to create their own addition problem. I was impressed with how well they did with this one!
We also made a math project called Raining hearts addition. These look so cute hanging up in my classroom!
On to the games! First, we played the conversation heart tower challenge. I gave them 30 seconds to see who could stack their tower the highest without falling over.
We also played the lava heart race. They had to reach the finish line by only stepping on the hearts otherwise they would have to go back to start for falling in the lava aka the carpet!
Lastly, I just wanted to share one of my favorite holiday aprons! I have one for every holiday. I love them so much! They are so handy for keeping markers, highlighters, stickers, etc. in. I also love using the pockets to display the word family of the week. I use them for passwords as a ticket out the door.
