Last Week Shenanigans

The last week of school is always bittersweet and extra difficult planning daily activities! Ha but I tried to do a camping theme this week.

We made smores with my flameless machine. Always so delicious and fun. It always amazes me when I have some kids that have never tried a s'more.

We used marshmallows to find ways to make ten. As a reward, they got to eat some marshmallows!

We talked about things you might see when you're camping such as BUGS! But pretty bugs, like fireflies. We read a scholastic magazine and then made our own lightning bugs.

We made little campers. And wrote about what we would do if we stayed the night in a tent.

And then we talked about fishing and made our own rainbow fish using celery. This was fun. The kids rotated through color tables until their fish was complete.

Then we had a coloring contest. The kids totally took their time (I've never see this before from all of them lol) then we got in a line and did a gallery walk. After that o told the kids they had 3 votes to give and so they walked around making tallies in the post its in front of their top 3. I then announced the top three winners and gave them a little prize. They loved this.

Another activity we did this week that had absolutely nothing to do with camping lol was what i like to call "black magic art". You start by completely coloring poster board using bright colors and coloring heavy. Then completely paint over it with black paint, multiple coats. Then use scissors to carve designs into it once it's dried.

This year flew by! I can't believe the last day has come and gone. I always get so jealous when I see my kids with their new teachers the following year. I will miss my kids dearly, after all I did spend 6 hours a day with them for 180 days! I got such sweet gifts from kids and parents that touched my heart. One of my kids even said, "I didn't know teachers cry!" Lol oh yes...all the time haha ;)
