Weather and Valentine's

We've been learning about weather for 3 weeks so on the last day of our unit, we read Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Afterwards, we made a list of the foods that rained in the story and then chose our favorite food to write and illustrate on our raindrops. After writing a sentence and drawing a picture, we water color painted our raindrops! They had fun with it and it looks adorable displayed!

Is Valentine's Day really in 4 days?! I realized we needed to do some fun valentinesy stuff. We did tear art on our "I love you to pieces" heart. Then on the back we wrote a valentine to someone special. It was so sweet to hear about who they chose and why.

Currently, our classroom is decked out with penguin decor and weather projects. So we made valentine sun catchers for our classroom window. They glued the black heart onto their wax paper and then glued pink and red tissue paper in the inside. They look so pretty in our window :)

During centers I gave them a team challenge which consisted of sorting mini letters into the correct vowel mailbox. They had to sort the words/pictures by their middle sound. Lol they loved putting them in the tiny mailboxes and they all worked together so well.

Currently, the kids are working on their own creative valentine box for Tuesday's party. I have some fun games planned for our party! Can't wait! :)
