April Showers Bring May Flowers!

Back to work after spring break and spring is in the air! This week we are learning all about plants and flowers.

First things first, we started with one of my favorite experiments...the stems work like a straw experiment. We placed white flowers into water with food coloring and each day we will observe to see what happens! *Hint* The petals change colors! Haha and it's awesome.

We began our theme by painting tulips using paint and forks! The rule was "no paintbrushes allowed". This activity went along well with the story by Eric Carle, "Planting a Rainbow".

After our tulip garden was all dry, we wrote sentences about them!

We also read some books today to learn about the parts of a flower and why those parts are important. Then of course, we had to do a labeling project :)

And what better way to learn about plants than to actually plant some! Today we planted grass seeds and flower seeds while we learned about what plants need to grow.

We also made a rhyming word family garden. We brainstormed different word families and the kids got to choose any word family and come up with rhyming words to write on the petals. These turned out so cute!

Finger painting flower addition!

And everyday we would read books focusing on a different part of a plant and add new facts to our poster.
