Easter Shenanigans

Easter was a blur of excitement in kindergarten! How about I'll walk you through our day. We started with an egg coloring contest. Everyone got to give out 5 votes. The top 3 winners earned jellybeans. They love coloring contests and have become really good sports.

Next, we did our Easter egg hunt! My mom and dad came to hide our eggs. We had enough plastic filled eggs so that each student could find about 19-20 eggs!! I also didn't realize how incredibly fast an Easter egg hunt could go lol The kids took off like rockets and found 300 + eggs within minutes.

On to the egg drop! Probably my favorite part of the day. The kids were assigned to take a raw egg, wrap in it a ziploc bag, and then protect it somehow in hopes it would survive being dropped from the top of a ladder. Thankfully, my dad came to help with that part! The kids were stoked to see if their eggs would survive or not. Out of the kids that participated, 7 survived and 9 cracked. Very clever ways of wrapping their eggs!

The kids were a little wound up at this point lol so we all went inside and I read them "Happy Easter Curious George". My mom did some puppetry as I read. The kids loved it.

Time to dye eggs! We received so many hard boiled eggs that each student got to dye 4-5 eggs!! So fun! Some of the kids came up with the idea to keep their egg soaking through lunch time to see how dark they would get and they looked beautiful!

Ready for a relay race! I got this cute egg relay race game. The point of the game is to get your egg to the end and back without dropping it (because it will crack open with a tiny bean bag of a chick inside). The kids basically went CRAZY with this game. So I could only handle about 2 rounds of it lol.

And since my kiddos love directed drawing, we drew Easter bunnies! I'm always so impressed with their ability to follow my steps and draw fabulous masterpieces.

Can't forget some math time! Addition eggs and practicing subtraction using jellybeans! They looooved this because I let them eat the jellybeans afterwards lol.

We also did a crayon resist Easter egg project to go along with the story "The Golden Egg" about a bunny that finds and egg and wonders what in the world is inside of it. Step 1 color, Step 2 paint, Step 3 will take place next week when we add the sentence about what we think is hiding in our egg. I'll have to update with a picture of the final product next week! :)

We also painted our hands to look like bunnies, but so much was going on that I completely forgot to take pictures of that! They turned out cute though!
