Valentines Day

                            Happy Valentine's Day in K!

One of the games we played on Valentine's Day was what my kids liked calling, "Lava Hearts Race". Two kids went at a time and they had to get from one end of the carpet to the other by only stepping on their hearts! They loved it and realized it wasn't as easy as it looks!

Another game we played...one of my favorites to watch is the "Minute to Win It Stacking Hearts Challenge". The kids had 1 minute to see who could stack the tallest tower by the time the buzzer went off.

We needed some classroom decor! So we made some suncatcher hearts using wax paper, black heart cut out, and red & pink tissue paper.

This project might be my favorite. I gave the kids a paper heart and they had to write something they love about kindergarten. I loved their responses.

We of course had to make valentine's for our loved ones. The kids decorated a heart with pieces of paper that said "I love you to pieces". Then on the other side, they wrote a letter to who they love and why. So sweeeeeeet.

We've been learning about decomposing numbers so I made a little team challenge where the kids had to match the numeral to the place value.

And probably the kids favorite activity was sorting conversation hearts by color. I told them if they sorted them, counted them, and completed their work correctly...that I would let them eat their hearts!

I also bought some mini mailboxes and made little tiny envelopes with CVC words on them. The kids had to sort each mail piece to the right mailbox based on its middle sound.

And lastly, the kids enjoyed this book I made for them to practice counting, writing numbers. and reading color words.

And one of my favorite valentines..."Teacher, I love you because you make everythings fun"
