We of course read pages from informational books to find interesting facts about frogs to add to our poster.

We started with singing 5 Green and Speckled Frogs and then performing it for the class. We extended this song throughout the week in a variety of ways.
1. We sang it as we did a cut & paste activity.

2. The kids performed the song for the class using laminated picture cards of frogs. They would sit down and hop away when a frog jumped into the pool. So cute!

3. We sang the song as we did a cut and fold activity. I then challenged the kids to sing the song at home to their families and post their video on our class Facebook page. It was probably the cutest assignment I have ever assigned! :)

4. We made our own frog headbands and glued the life cycle of a frog in order along the sentence strip.

5. We also used jumping frogs to use during math time to practice subtraction to 5.

5. Then we read "Froggy Plays in the Band". We of course acted it out taking turns marching as a parade playing the instruments from the story. I videotaped each performance and we watched them back and voted on our favorite parade. Then we wrote what instrument we would want to play if we were in Froggy's band.

"I want to play the triangle". We then shared our projects and counted up each instrument chosen to see which instrument was the most favorite. The triangle won by a landslide!

6. And since the sneaky cupcake thief in Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes is a frog, we also did some fun with this story. We acted it out using a frog hat, Pete puppet, and fake cupcakes with a tin. As we listened to the story again the frog would take a cupcake from everybody until they were all gone.
