Johnny Appleseed Day!

Johnny Appleseed Day was a blast and a wonderful culmination to our 2 week apple unit. The kids were off the wall hyper from all the apple goodness, but it was a jam packed day of fun! We started the day with centers all about apples. We did a taste test to see if we liked yellow, green, or red apples the best. When they picked their favorite, they chose that color apple and hung it up in the tree with their name on it. When we were all done we counted each color to find out which one was the most and least.
We also did an apple treats taste test. We received so many donations that I was very overwhelmed, but in a good way! We got to taste test: apple muffins with caramel frosting, apple streusel, pear apples, apple juice, apple cider, apple pie, Dutch apple pie, applesauce, and dried apples!
As we tasted something we colored in the sad or happy face on our paper to remember if we liked it or not. They pretty much liked everything of course!
We also had some other centers going on. We did a parts of an apple project.
And made a Johnny Appleseed, but inserted our own names.
And of course we had to write about apples!
After they chose their favorite color apple, we made sentence strip hats that say, "I like _____ apples". They had to write in the color word and glue on an apple dicut.
It was a super exhausting day, but the kids had a blast and that's what matters right?? :) I think my favorite thing is the tree! You can find all of the activities I used in my TPT store under the "Johnny Appleseed" tab!
