Planning Red Ribbon Week!

"Hocus Pocus, drugs aren't my focus!"
I love Red Ribbon Week! I think that it is a super important and educational event for students and parents. One of my adjunct duties at my school is to create and organize this event. This year the national theme is "Love yourself, be drug free". I came up with spirit days for each day and the reason behind it. I also came up with some school wide ideas to make the week fabulous! We will have a spirit assembly to kick off the week which will hopefully include some special speakers, a door decorating contest that connects Red Ribbon and Halloween, a class mural contest to hang up in the school cafeteria, an essay contest for the uppergrades, and daily prizes for the class with the most spirit! Some other spirit days that didn't make the cut this year:

Hat Day: "Put a cap on drugs"
Pajama Day: "Follow your dreams"
Western Day: "Stomp out drugs"
Hawaiian Day: "Lei off drugs"

Here are the flyers that my school will be passing out for Red Ribbon Week this year.
These are the spirit days for this year:

Our special school events:

And meaningful prizes for the most spirited class each day.

My class mural from last year 2013-2014
"Come take my hand to take a stand against drugs!"

And here is my door from the past two years. I think I got 3rd place both years in a row!

2013-2014 "Don't get wrapped up in drugs". I gave each student a mummy template and some toilet paper! They glued the toilet paper onto the mummy, added googly eyes, and then I folded and stapled on the red ribbon.

2012-2013 "Kick drugs to the curb". I gave each student a shoe template to color and then I took their picture pretending to kick drugs.

Lastly, we ordered some stickers and red bracelets from Oriental Trading to give to every student TK-8th grade! I think we have 750 students this year! I can't wait to see all of the red!

Update! Here is my door for 2014-2015
"Don't get caught in the wicked web of drugs!"
And I just love my poster from last year so much that we made one again this year.
