We also started tackling addition this month more specifically ways to make 10. We started by making two groups of students and adding them together, and then we used bears to add on the document camera, and then we completed an addition worksheet together. They were really excited to learn and practice adding!
We've been learning about the pyramid in order to learn how to eat healthy at Thanksgiving! After learning a group a day and making a giant food pyramid anchor chart, we ended the unit by creating our own plate representing every food group! I even let them add some sweets in the corner for dessert. Many of them insisted on putting ice cream in the dairy spot!
And here is their themed homework for this week, to create the food pyramid and then choose a food and write about it.
And then here was one of my favorite moments...coloring upside down under the table for the letter of the week, Uu.
Since we have been reviewing numbers 0-10 the kids worked together to count pepperonis to make number pizzas.
We also reviewed our Red Ribbon Week lin experiment. We placed our lung posters around the room for a week to see what happens to your lungs when you smoke. Unanimous decision they all want to be smoke free Susie! One of my kids even said that the other day he was with his dad who was smoking and then he remembered that he's breathing in that bad air too and so he left the room! Red Ribbon Week success!
Alright, enough fun stuff...time to work on report cards for conferences next week! :oP
