Each day, we learn about each symbol through discussion, pictures, videos, and realia (the flag, a stuffed quail that makes the real bird call). I also made the kids notebooks again that have a coloring page for each symbol. After each symbol, we write an informational sentence to go along with it.
I've been so impressed with my kids' nonfiction writing!
We pretty much ran out of time to do my projects for the redwood trees and the bridge. But I found some really neat YouTube videos of people driving through the drive through redwood wood tree and walking through the park. And I also found some videos of people walking along the bridge and on a boat under the bridge!
