Reading & Rhyming

I can't believe this is the last week of trimester 2! So I've really been focusing on rhyming and reading CVC words. And I think a majority of my kiddos are starting to get it! :)

I decided to start my reading center everyday with a warm up brain activity. I put different CVC worksheets in a page protector. My goal is to do a different page each day no matter what the focus is at my center that day. I put a couple sheets in so that at the end of the day I can quickly change them up for tomorrow. They seem to really enjoy it, Probably because they love using white board markers! Whatever works!

Then we take turns building words that focus on our word family of the week. They come up to the pocket chart, slowly sound out the word, and then read it to the group!

Then we do this activity one more time, but illustrate our rhyming words.

Just a quick, easy, and fun way to practice rhyming and reading CVC!

After they finished their work, I rewarded them with letting them play with tops since our word family this week is -op!
