Halloween Fun!

The week before Halloween is always chaotic, but fun! The kids are always so amped up for Halloween and celebrating Red Ribbon Week. Here are some fun things we did this week. On actual Halloween we will be having our Pumpkin Palooza Day! I'll definitely post some pictures of that!

This was a team challenge during centers. They used spider rings to place the correct number of spiders into each web. When they completed the challenge, they received a candy corn!

Then we read the book "5 Little Pumpkins" and each got a turn to practice performing for the class. I made 5 giant construction paper pumpkins, cut a hold in them, and laminated them. It was so fun and adorable. They practiced their lines before performing.

Another fun pumpkin counting story/song is the "10 Little Pumpkins". I typed out the song and they had to cut and paste the pumpkins in order bordering their poem! Then they were singing it all day long!

Experimenting with pumpkins! Using the balance scale to see which things are heavier and lighter than a pumpkin. We also did this last month with apples so I loved when I overheard them make connections between both.

We looked at some pumpkins to come up with describing words and create a sentence using the word of the week, "and". The kids choose a pumpkin to write about; such as, "My pumpkin is orange and big".

And here are some extra random fun things we did this week to learn about the letter Nn and that it begins in the word, numbers.

My mom also donated 5 old keyboards to our classroom and the kids love to play with them. But this week they practiced typing words that we've learned. At first, this difficult for them, but it's amazing seeing how fast they are learning numbers and where they are at on a computer keyboard.

And I just wanted to share my spirited ways for Red Ribbon Week! Any excuse to dress up and I'm all for it! Plus I love our Drug Awareness curriculum. It's appropriate, cute, and engaging. The kids love the workbooks that come with it.

It's called Too Good For Drugs! :)
